Gama is in a privileged area, surrounded by nature on all sides, including a beautiful vineyard, which characterizes one of the most important cultures of the Rio Grande do Sul Countryside: the grape.
Preserving this environment is part of Gama"s culture. The company, in addition to actions aimed at the well-being of all and the community, it also, in the architecture of its factory, uses daylight to illuminate the environments, it has an efficient rainwater catchment system and, recently invested heavily in photovoltaic energy.
The installation of solar panels throughout the company will contribute to reducing the consumption of conventional electricity and this will consequently lower environmental impacts.
Gama is also concerned with waste and effluent management. It has a Solid Waste Management Plan, in compliance with the National Solid Waste Policy (Law 12.305 / 2010), which describes the procedures need to be taken for the management stages of these, including segregation, identification, conditioning, storage, internal and external collections, treatment and/or final disposal of the waste generated. All waste receivers are checked for licensing to ensure that they are properly licensed and authorized to receive waste. In addition, the plan presents goals for reducing waste generation and improving the waste management process. Gama employees are periodically trained in order to follow the conditions mentioned in this Plan.
The effluent generated by Gama, from the cafeteria, is sent to an ascending flow sand filter followed by chlorination, which treats this effluent in order to meet the emission standards needed for release. Other effluents generated in the company, such as contaminated cutting and machining oil, are sent for external treatment in companies licensed to receive and treat them.
This way, both solid waste and liquid effluents generated are managed to comply with current environmental legislation and to protect the environment.
Gama also maintains social responsibility actions linked to the Criança Feliz Association (ACF). Founded in 1995, this is an entity located in the city of Caxias do Sul-RS, which built its history by attending to hundreds of children, adolescents and their families which are in a less fortunate situation. The funds donated monthly are used to improve the welfare of these needy children and adolescents.
Through these actions, among others, Gama understands that it remains active in the environment and in the society in which it is inserted, acting towards the common good and for preservation thereof.
